Plagiarism and Exam Cheating

These sorts of allegations have the potential to blight a student's future. A promising college or university education could soon be ruined.

Plagiarism is treated seriously and it can take many forms. At its simplest it is the copying of another's work. However in practice it has a wider definition and can include using another's work and then failing to credit the real source of that work. In some cases it is possible that the plagiarism infringes on copyright and patent law.

Ofqual has published guides to assist students in preparing authentic and correctly referenced work.

There is so called "detection software" on the market that can be used by education establishments to detect plagiarism.
